The first 12 months of a Big Data venture
We will remember 2013 as the year when Stratio was born. The brainchild of Oscar Méndez, Nacho Cabrera, Julio Casal and a few others, Stratio was only a number of disconnected ideas just 12 months ago. Some of the best ones were discussed, sometimes quite passionately, at a number of weekly web conferences between Madrid and Palo Alto in the early months of the year.
A few months later, Stratio has a route map that includes a disruptive positioning in the world of Big Data solutions. Our is an open platform combining batch processing with interactive and real-time applications.
Outreach in 2013
Stratio is now a 20-strong team with several projects in full motion and actual (as in paying) clients. We managed to announce ourselves to the world. We presented Stratio Deep at the Cassandra Summit Europe 2013 in London, at the Big Data Spain conference in Madrid and at the Spark Summit in San Francisco.

The future is… busy
The challenges of the company for 2014 are formidable: the nurture the development of the product, growing the team, outreaching to communities and keeping our identity and values. All in an environment of an ever-accelerating environment of Big Data evolution.
